Penn’s mental health task force is in the process of synthesizing information and developing recommendations aimed at improving mental health resources on campus, after conducting research and interviews last semester and over the summer.

Recent graduate and former Penn football player Joseph Grosso died while lobster diving Wednesday in Pompano Beach, Florida. He graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences this May, majoring in politics, philosophy and economics.


Rising junior and Class of 2016 president Jesús Pérez completed a 136-mile run with the nonprofit organization impossible2Possible, which strives to educate and inspire students of all ages through its extreme expeditions. His group ran through the Atacama Desert in Chile, the driest place on Earth. Medical Ethics and Health Policy professor Jennifer Prah Ruger and Law School professor Theodore Ruger teamed up with Boston University professor George Annas to write an article released in the New England Journal of Medicine. They discuss the controversial five to four Hobby Lobby decision and argue that drugs and devices critical to health should be universally available.


At approximately 7:52 a.m., Philadelphia Police, the Philadelphia Fire Department and Penn Police responded to a call for a strong odor and steam coming from the Wistar Institute at 3601 Spruce St. , according to the Division of Public Safety. The steam leak resulted in one person being sent to HUP for evaluation.
