“Sleep problems have previously been associated with increased antisocial and criminal behavior, so we were surprised to find that increased sleep was associated with increased offending,” one researcher said.
“In a weird way it was flattering, that they would go to the trouble to hack a student website at Penn,” College sophomore Ethan Woolley said.
On Oct. 20, a man affiliated to Penn reported that someone struck him in the back of the head near the intersection of 38th and Sansom Streets.
College senior Arjun Malik is one of the founding members of the Philadelphia Bail Fund, which aims to post bail for as many low-income individuals as possible.
A DPS administrator said students attending off-campus social events is not a concerning security issue because these venues have regulations that students must comply with.
On Oct. 16, a woman reported that she was near 34th and Spruce Streets when a person exposed himself to her.
Penn's Division of Public Safety has opened an investigation into the matter, but as of Oct. 25., they had not found the perpetrator.
At Santa Monica, a “threat-assessment team” congregates twice a week to discuss students who have been reported as possible threats to themselves or others. Similar teams exist at Virginia Tech and George Washington University.
Starting this fall, all staff will need to log in to Penn InTouch using a two step verification process.
This week's crime log includes eight incidents of theft, an incident of aggravated assault and two incidents of burglary.
