The incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m., prompted student diners to flee the premises for safety. 

Samuel Woodward's next pre-trial hearing is slated to take place in January 2019.

A UPenn Alert was sent at 3:30 p.m., indicating that the object was cleared and is no longer a danger to the community.

 Reports that the homicide was a hate crime have been circulating since the spring, but this is the first time that formal charges are being raised. 

On May 15, Temple University senior Ari Goldstein was arrested for attempted rape, according to Philly Voice. 

The Philadelphia Police are currently investigating the string of assaults and urges anyone with information to come forward.

Orange County DA spokesperson Michelle Van Der Linden confirmed that the hearing was postponed and has not been rescheduled. 

The suspect, a black male in his 30s, seen wearing a tan jacket, black gloves, a white hat, and sunglasses, is still at large.
