A man unaffiliated with the University was shot in the head on the 300 block of North Busti Street at about 8:50 p.m. Friday night. The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was in stable condition.

The shooting occurred at the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s Westpark Apartments, also known at the “projects,” Detective Timothy McCool of Philadelphia Police Southwest Detectives said.

The incident may have been the result of a dispute, and Philadelphia Police have identified and are looking for a suspect, Detective Sergeant Michael Goodson added.

On Friday night, the shooter was suspected to be a black male in a black sweatshirt hoodie on foot, according to Penn Police officer Joe Kearns.

The Westpark Apartments, located near 44th and Market streets, are outside the Penn Patrol Zone, according to Division of Public Safety spokeswoman Stef Karp. DPS assisted Philadelphia Police in responding to the incident, Karp added.
