Both of the Penn men’s crew teams will compete in the 45th annual Head of the Charles race in Boston this weekend.
The heavyweight team has two boats registered, while the lightweight team has one boat set to compete.
The heavyweight boats will compete in the Men’s Championship four and Championship eight.
Both the Open Four and the Novice Eight took first place in last week’s Navy Day Regatta.
In 2008, the Quakers’ eight finished 24th in the championship race with a time of 15:28.828.
The heavyweight eight was defeated by three Brown boats that took second, eighth and ninth place.
The heavyweight four, however, crossed the finish line ninth in the championship race with a time of 17:11:356. With that time, the Quakers placed third among the Ivy League crews, with only Harvard and Cornell coming in sooner.
The lightweight team is also coming off a strong finish at the Navy Day Regatta, as both the four and the eight finished fourth in their respective races.
Last year at the Charles, the Quakers’ lightweight eight placed 13 out of 21 competitors with a time of 15:30.944.
