Anne Waters will become the new executive director of the Office of International Programs today, Provost Ron Daniels announced in a press release on Monday.

In her new position, Waters will lead the Penn Abroad and International Student and Scholar Services offices, as well as other programs that provide the Penn community with international services.

She will also collaborate with members of the Penn community involved in international activities, like School of Medicine professors Brian Strom of Global Health and Harvey Friedman of the Botswana-UPenn Partnership.

One of Waters' goals will be expanding Penn's international services, such as designating resources to support international internships and preparing participants to engage in Penn-related activities abroad.

Waters - who formerly worked with education, public sector and non-profit institutions at the Global Organization and Leadership Practice of McKinsey & Company - received her Master's from Penn in 1986 in South Asia Regional Studies and her Ph.D. in anthropology and history from the University of Michigan in 1997.
