Keeping Penn staff on their medications

One hundred University employees are about to become eligible to get a pillbox they won't have to worry about misplacing.

Employees with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol will receive access to a Med-eMonitor System that will alert them when it is time to take medications and tell them how to follow their health care plans.

Penn is the country's first self-insured employer to offer the automated box.

The program was developed by InforMedix and will be administered by the Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factor Care Management Team at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to ensure that patients and their physicians are aware of signs of poor compliance or declining health.
