Three Penn gymnasts to compete at NCAAs

The Penn gymnastics team competed at the ECAC Championships over the weekend in what would likely be the last meet for the team's graduating seniors.

However, it turns out that senior Emily Petkun's collegiate career is not over after all.

Yesterday, Petkun and sophomore Stephanie Ortiz were selected to participate in the all-around competition at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships, to be held in Ann Arbor, Mich., on April 8.

Petkun, who is seeded fourth in the all-around, will be making her fourth trip to regionals. It will be Ortiz's first career NCAA selection, and she will be seeded right behind Petkun in the fifth spot.

In addition, freshman Lauren Markowitz has been selected as an alternate on vault, behind Yale's Miki Seltzer.
