The men's swimming and diving team finished a less-than-stellar eighth at the Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming League Championships on March 4. The Quakers tallied a mere 638.5 points; Princeton won the championship with 1,393.
"We had a lot more finalists than last year," Penn coach Mike Schnur said. "But our depth wasn't as good as last year. We had a great competition with Brown until the end. Their divers did a great job."
Pat Gallagher broke the Penn record in the 100-yard freestyle, with a time of 45.23.
The team's high scorer was senior Matt Blaszko, who finished seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke and tenth in the 1650-yard freestyle.
