The Kamin Cup: DPOSTM destroys inferior weenie squad

Franklin Field was still awash in snow and ice. But the loose footing was too much for the Weenies to handle, and DPOSTM won again to capture the Kamin Cup, 21-15.

The game was not nearly as close as the score indicated, with the Weenies (6-115) scoring two late touchdowns to avoid the shutout.

But early on, it was all DPOSTM defense. Sports (115-6) limited the Weenies to just two first downs and no real scoring chances for most of the game.

The first score of the game came on a fumble recovery in the endzone by David "I swear, just cause I'm from D.C. and wear Redskins jerseys on Sundays doesn't mean that I'm like Tannenwald" Bernstein. He recovered a muffed punt by Nicholas "Sure hands" Joy.

Later on, it was two touchdown passes from outgoing DPOSTM captain Josh "Mike Vick" Hirsch -- one over the middle to Josh "Smush Parker" Pollick who got great blocks downfield from Jeff "Holy crap I'm in charge now" Greenwald and Zachary "Yes, I am really tall," Levine.

"I told you, I'm a warrior," Pollick said. "No one can shoot down my Jewish athleticism. No one."

"Ehhh, you know, it was good blocking downfield," honorary DPOSTM coach Al Bagnoli might have added.

Levine caught the second touchdown pass off a ball that was tipped by Nate "I am also really tall" Johnson.

The Weenies were aided late by the arrival of Garrett "I need to be reminded of this thing 1,000 times" Young and Craig "Not sure he was actually eligible, even under the 'Bert Lockwood rule'" Cohen.

Earlier, it was Ryan "Isn't the only" Jones, Matt "Is the only" Jones and Mark "Columnists are people too" Littmann who all failed to do anything spectacular on offense. But Cici "I'm a lot better than Tannenwald" Zheng was a pleasant surprise for the Weenies, catching six passes.

However, although Jonathan "H. Rumph/AP Photo" Tannenwald was a late arrival, he did have an impact on his final Kamin Cup. Tannenwald's rush of Cohen allowed the Texans jersey-toter to dive into the end zone for the Weenies' first score. Tannenwald later redeemed himself by figuring out how to not run back 30 yards for a safety on the last play of the game.

In the end, it turned out to be the eighth straight win in the series for DPOSTM.

Note: Jeff "Trash talker" Shafer ended his DPOSTM career along with Tannenwald, Pollick and Greenwald.

David "Thank God I got to ref and didn't have to do anything athletic" Burrick did an adequate job of fulfilling his nickname. Lily "Just happy to be here" eventually showed up and relieved Shafer of the responsibility of being the girl on the field. Matt "Shibe Park" Conrad denied reports of moving the game next year to 19th and Lehigh.
