After a sluggish first half that saw the Quakers struggle against a young Navy team, the Penn men's basketball team rallied in the second frame to beat the Midshippmen, 86-73, on Friday.
Junior guard Ibrahim Jaaber scored a career-high 31 points to lead all scorers. Steve Danley scored 14, and Mark Zoller had another 12 off the bench.
Penn benefitted from Navy's constant foul trouble. The Quakers shot 55 free throws in the game, making 39. Navy, on the other hand, only attempted 20 foul shots.
Guard Clif Colbert led Navy with 22 points.
Despite the fact that many Navy fans are in town for tomorrow's Army-Navy football matchup, a meager crowd of 2,833 showed up at the Palestra.
Saturday, the Quakers return to action, hosting Temple at 2:30 p.m. in the second game of the Big 5 Classic. Check out dailypennsylvanian.com throughout the day for updates from Penn-Temple and Drexel-La Salle.
