Sports Brief: Crew teams close out fall at Princeton

The men's heavyweight rowing team and the women's rowing team travelled to Princeton, N.J., yesterday to participate in the Belly of the Carnegie.

The men's "A" squad finished 14th out of 25 in a time of 16:03.88. They finished two spots behind the "B" squad, which finished in 15:57.07. Columbia was the only Ivy "A" squad beaten by Penn's "A" team. The lightweight team did not race this weekend.

The women's "A" team finished 11th out of 33 squads in a time of 17:55.82. The "B" team finished three spots back and the "C" team finished last. The women's "A" beat Ivy competitors Columbia, Princeton and Cornell.

The Belly of the Carnegie marked the end of the fall season for the Penn rowing teams. The heavyweight team will resume competition on Dec. 30, the lightweight on April 1, and the women on March 18.
