Theft
- Sept. 6 -- A male Penn student reported that a laptop, valued at $500, was stolen from his residence at 4009 Baltimore Ave. between Aug. 27 and Aug. 28. It appears that the thief entered through an open door. Police have no suspects in the case.
- Sept. 7 -- A security guard at the Fresh Grocer, located at 4001 Walnut St., stopped a man who allegedly tried to leave without paying for his merchandise. Guards called police, who in turn arrested Spencer Robinson, 57. He allegedly attempted to steal $78 worth of assorted soap products, including laundry detergent.
- Sept. 7 -- Police received a report that a laptop, valued at $500, was stolen from a University-affiliated office on the second floor at 220 S. 40th St. sometime between Sept. 2 and Sept. 6. No arrests have been made in the case.
- Sept. 10 -- At about 8:30 p.m., a Penn Police officer saw a man attempting to remove yard furniture from a rear yard at 200 S. 42nd St. The officer arrested Bradford Clover, 48.
Bicycle Theft
- Sept. 7 -- A 27-year-old female Penn graduate student reported at about 4:45 p.m. that her black and gray Trek mountain bike, valued at $350, was taken from a bike rack outside the Moore School Building, located at 200 S. 33rd St.
- Sept. 10 -- Two women reportedly saw a man taking a bicycle from a rack adjacent to Sansom Place West, located at 3650 Chestnut St. Police apprehended 28-year-old Brahim Johnson -- who gave the alias Brahim Swaray -- at 40th and Market streets after a brief pursuit. The suspect was allegedly riding one bike and pulling another behind him. Police recovered the stolen bike, and Johnson was charged with theft.
