Forgery
n Sept. 21 -- Christopher Williams, a 53-year-old male unaffiliated with the University, was arrested at approximately 5:20 p.m. in front of Freshgrocer at 4001 Walnut St. for possession of 46 copied DVDs. The police were responding to a complaint by the Motion Picture Association of America.
Narcotics
n Sept. 18 -- Gregory Crawford, a 45-year-old male unaffiliated with the University, was arrested at approximately 10 p.m. at the University of Pennsylvania police station at 4040 Chestnut St. Crawford was brought in for questioning regarding a burglary that had occurred earlier in the week, as well as the theft of a cellular phone from the University Lutheran Church of the Incarnation at 3637 Chestnut St. While at the police station, Crawford was discovered to be in possession of heroin. He is being charged with three separate counts: burglary, theft and narcotics.
Theft
n Sept. 22 -- Tanya Wilson, a 43-year-old female unaffiliated with the University, was arrested at approximately 7:20 p.m. for allegedly attempting to steal $79.65 worth of merchandise from the Presbyterian Hospital gift shop.
n Sept. 21 -- A female student reported that between approximately 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., credit cards and $35 cash were taken from her unattended bag in Van Pelt Library.
n Sept. 21 -- A male unaffiliated with the University reported that between approximately 7:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., the left front window of his Ford Aerostar was shattered and his wallet removed, which contained credit cards. The car was parked at the University City Science Center at 3508 Market St.
n Sept. 21 -- A female unaffiliated with the University reported that around 6:50 p.m., a blue handbag with keys, a cell phone and identification was taken from her Freshgrocer shopping cart. The items were valued at $100.
n Sept. 20 -- Butch Jones, who is unaffiliated with the University, was arrested at Freshgrocer at 4001 Walnut St. at approximately 1:40 a.m. for allegedly attempting to steal $61.89 worth of groceries.
n Sept. 20 -- A female University staff member reported that between Aug. 20 and Sept. 20, a Fuji digital camera valued at $217 was removed from her unsecured desk at 421 Curry Blvd.
n Sept. 20 -- A male graduate student reported that between approximately 3:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., his scientific calculator, valued at $40, and his wallet, which contained $60 cash, credit cards and identification, were taken from the Towne Building at 220 S. 33rd St.
n Sept. 20 -- James Barrett, a 42-year-old male unaffiliated with the University, was arrested at approximately 6:25 p.m. at the CVS at 4314 Locust St. for allegedly attempting to steal nine cans of cashews, valued at $41.17.
Burglary
n Sept. 22 -- A male medical student reported that at approximately 6:20 a.m., he awoke to observe a man aged 31-35 dressed in a blue shirt and blue jeans leaving his unlocked residence at 3904 Spruce St. with his Gary Fisher black and silver mountain bike, valued at $140.
n Sept. 20 -- A male unaffiliated with the University reported that between approximately 8:10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., a jar filled with coins and dollar bills was taken from his residence at 4043 Baltimore Ave. The jar and its contents were valued at $100.
