Indecent Assault
Oct. 11 -- A female unaffiliated with the University reported being touched inappropriately outside a bar on the 3900 block of Sansom Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. by a male she had been casually talking to. The male fled and the case is currently being handled by the Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit.
Assault
Oct. 11 -- After a near-car accident, a female unaffiliated with the University allegedly drove her car up to the window of a male cab driver and pointed a gun at him at 300 S. 34th St. The gun was licensed, but she was arrested on charges of aggravated assault. The case is being handled by the Philadelphia Police. Oct. 10 -- A security guard at Presbyterian Hospital, located at 51 N. 39th St., was punched in the face with a closed fist at approximately 1:37 p.m. after attempting to stop a man for investigation purposes. The man, who is unaffiliated with the University, was arrested and the guard was treated at the hospital for a cut nose and lip.
Burglary
Oct. 11 -- A male student reported that his laptop and wireless computer card, worth $1,200, were taken by an unknown person who gained access to his unsecured residence, located at 3818 Chestnut St. The incident occurred between approximately 9:15 and 10:15 a.m.
Theft
Oct. 13 -- William Wert, a 48-year-old male member of the University's Upward Bound program, was arrested after he was found hiding a stolen Hewlett Packard scanner/copier behind bushes at Van Pelt Library, located at 3420 Walnut St., at approximately 11 a.m. The item's owner was located and it was returned. Oct. 13 -- Xiao Zhou, an 18-year-old female student, was arrested after attempting to take two shirts, valued at $65, from Urban Outfitters, located at 110 S. 36th St., at approximately 12:35 p.m. Oct. 13 -- Campus Apartments reported that an unknown person pried open a cash box attached to a coin-operated dryer located at 4039 Chestnut St. sometime between approximately Oct. 10 at 12 a.m. and Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. and stole approximately $350. Oct. 12 -- Pleamon Bassett, a 61-year-old male unaffiliated with the University, was arrested after allegedly attempting to take two books, valued at $21, from the Last Word Bookstore, located at 3925 Walnut St., at approximately 12:39 p.m. Oct. 12 -- A female unaffiliated with the University reported that an unknown person removed her wallet, containing several credit cards, from the Bubble House, located on the 3400 block of Sansom Street, between approximately 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. When the woman canceled her credit cards, she discovered that approximately $700 had been charged to them. Oct. 13 -- Takeshal Keigler, a 26-year-old female unaffiliated with the University, was arrested after attempting to take $67.98 worth of merchandise from Urban Outfitters, located at 120 S. 36th St., at approximately 7:25 p.m. Oct. 10 -- A female student reported that an unknown person took her unattended Dell laptop and cell phone, valued at $1,800, from the Law School, located at 3443 Sansom St., at approximately 3:01 p.m. Oct. 10 -- A female unaffiliated with the University reported that she saw a male taking two CDs, valued at $30, from an office at 3720 Chestnut St. at approximately 1:55 p.m. When she approached him, he fled the scene. Oct. 10 -- A person unaffiliated with the University reported that an unknown person removed a saw and a Hilti hammer drill, valued at $650, from a locked toolbox on the second floor of the Vagelos Building, located at 231 S. 34th St., between approximately 12 p.m. and 12:15 p.m. Oct. 10 -- Pizza Rustica, located at 3600 Chestnut St., reported that an unknown person took two rented squares of carpet, valued at $500, from the front of the restaurant's property between approximately 2 a.m. and 10 a.m.
