GSFA's Addams Hall gets new set of sculpted gates
A Penn professor has given the Graduate School of Fine Arts a helping hand -- several, in fact.
A new gate adorned with several sculpted bronze hands holding painting, drawing and sculpture tools now features prominently in front of Charles Addams Fine Arts Hall at 36th and Walnut streets.
The gate was designed by GSFA faculty member and Penn alumnus Mark Lueders, who won a competition among MFA alumni.
"We felt this design was the most appropriate and intriguing," said Julia Converse, a GSFA assistant dean.
The gates were created and installed thanks to contributions from the Kelly Family Foundation and Penn Trustee and alumnus Paul Kelly.
