Popa Chubby plays the blues

Blind Pig Records recording artist Popa Chubby is intriguing as an artist; Chubby, who looks like a cross between Fred Durst and boxer Butterbean, is definitely a case where one shouldn't judge a CD by it's cover. Chubby's LP How'd a White Boy Get the Blues? is an eclectic mixture of blues, soul, rock, rap and country.

Chubby's wordplay and storytelling abilities shine through on tracks like "Daddy Played Guitar and Mama Was a Disco Queen" and "Time is Killing Me." In addition, Chubby provides the traditional lost-love blues track on the poignant "Savin' My Love Up For My Lover." Chubby's surprisingly uncanny guitar playing and passionate lyric delivery make one wonder not only how a white boy got the blues, but also who taught him how to play the blues so damn well.
