The Strokes

TLA

334 South Street

8 p.m., $12.50/$14.50 DOS

(215) 922-1011

Midnight, genius, your professor, your mother... Exactly what kind of stroke are they talking about? Buzz aplenty surrounds this NYC band, which is apparently at "the edge" and about to topple into rock & roll idolatry. Perhaps the group is a Velvet Underground wannabe, but can you really blame it? Originality is overrated.

Preview of Christmas Eve Dinner

Cuba Libre

10 S. Second Street

6:30 & 9 p.m., $50/person

(215) 627-0666

Hell, it's not even Thanksgiving yet, and they want to preview their Christmas Eve dinner?!? I thought that people outgrew standing in line to get into parties after college, but apparently I was wrong. The velvet rope is in place to keep you toe-to-toe outside this hot spot. And the biggest shock of all is that it's not owned by either Stephen Starr or Neil Stein.
