NOFX calls for more Valuum

America's hardest working punk rockers are back once again with another stellar release, Pump up the Valuum, which showcases the same hard-hitting guitar riffs, drum beats and vocals from Fat Mike that made the band "famous" in the first place.

The best songs on the album are the ones that fit the traditional NOFX style of either goofy lyrics or stinging societal critiques. "My Vagina" is a hilarious ode to a new post-op transgender vagina, while "Dinosaurs Will Die" is the band's obligatory jab against the music industry. It is only when the band strays to more conventional songs about heartbreak, as in "Bottles to the Ground," that any signs of weakness appear.

So while Pump Up the Valuum is not that much different stylistically from NOFX's other albums (save for their groundbreaking EP The Decline), it's still a mighty fine piece of punk rock.
