CNN is being broadcast on the large screens in McKnight Auditorium and AfterHours so students and faculty can keep up on the latest details.
Students will have an opportunity to ask questions and hear answers about Tuesday's tragedy from UNC Charlotte professors tomorrow at noon. "America Under Attack: A UNC Charlotte Perspective" will be held in AfterHours on Wednesday, Sept. 12, during the lunch hour. The Office of Student Activities has asked Dr. Cynthia Combs, a leading expert in terrorism, to be a panelist at the discussion. OSA is awaiting confirmation from other faculty members. According to Mindy Sides-Walsh, associate director of OSA, the discussion will allow students to ask questions about what happened, why it happened and about the events that might have triggered one of the deadliest attack of terrorism in American history. "There are a lot of rumors going around, and people are freaked out," said Sides-Walsh. "We just wanted to do something." The decision to sponsor a panel was made at 10 a.m. Tuesday, less than two hours after the World Trade Towers in New York City were hit by airplanes and fell to the ground. Another attack on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. left a section of that building in rubble.
