We lov eplans to vring MTV's Loveline to campus - such events only make Penn a nicer place. All over campus today, the buzz was that Loveline -- MTV's hit advice show -- will be coming to campus for Valentine's Day weekend. We applaud the combined efforts of several student groups -- including Tangible Change Committee, Connaissance and the Sophomore Class Board -- for supporting the visit by the popular show and its celebrity hosts. Loveline's visit and similar high profile events make the campus a more vibrant and attractive place for both current and prospective students. The Tangible Change Committee's plans to sponsor a variety of Valentine's Day events -- possibilities include distributing Hershey's Kisses on Locust Walk -- strike us as a delightful respite from a dreary winter, and we look forward to the release of further details. Our only caution to the involved groups is minor: We encourage them to ensure that tickets to the event are reasonably priced. The Loveline visit is the latest in a series of highly successful and wildly popular events -- Conan O'Brien is only the most recent example. Indeed, we regret only that such events -- entertainment personalities, speakers of national importance and other cultural events -- do not grace our campus with greater regularity. We encourage the involved student organizations to explore future opportunities to combine forces. Results like this program highly recommend such collaborations as potential sources of future speakers and events for Penn students.
