The Daily Pennsylvanian

SPORTS BRIEF: Friday, September 25, 1998

Raffle part of opening day football festivities Earlier in the week, students who live on campus were given season tickets for the Quakers' home games. Starting tomorrow, and continuing throughout the duration of the season, students will be able to bring their tickets to the game and enter them in a raffle. Winners of the contest will receive various prizes -- prizes that, according to Bill Richter, Penn's new director of marketing and promotions, will get "larger and larger" as the season progresses. The raffle is just one of Richter's attempts to garner fan support for Penn's athletic teams. While Richter doesn't expect the raffle itself to necessarily attract fans, it will be an opportunity for students to "take a break from their studies and enjoy some of the other things that are part of the college experience." -- Eric Tucker
