CAMPUS BRIEFS: Friday, September 4, 1998

Many details about the accident remain unknown, but none of the other passengers in Roberts' car were injured when it flipped over, according to Panhellenic Council President Janelle Brodsky. Roberts was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Brodsky, a College and Engineering senior and a Pi Beta Phi sister, emphasized that alcohol was not involved in the incident. "Emily just happened to be the only one not wearing a seatbelt," she said. Office of Fraternity and Sorority affairs Director Scott Reikofski said at the time that he was "still trying to piece things together." Roberts, a native of Newhall, Calif., was well liked by everyone that knew her, according to Panhel Secretary Michelle Fliman, a College senior. "As I told one of her sorority sisters last week, Emily sticks out in my mind as one of the sweetest and friendliest girls of her year," Fliman, an Alpha Chi Omega sister, said at the time. "She was truly a genuine, beautiful individual." Funeral services were held in California. -- Ginny Dorsey
