Narwani, a College and Wharton senior in the Huntsman Program in International Business, shot herself in the chest June 8 in her Center City apartment. She was 21. Narwani left a note that "stated she was depressed," Philadelphia Police Detective Sean Brennan said at the time. He declined to make any further comment on the exact contents of the note. Although friends and professors said they were shocked by Narwani's suicide, several said the student had seemed severely depressed after returning from studying abroad in India last fall. Those who knew her described Narwani as a studious, sweet and articulate woman destined for a successful career in the corporate world. Narwani took a leave of absence from the University last spring and had been living with her sister downtown. The Huntsman Program will hold a memorial service for Narwani in the fall. The date has not yet been scheduled. -- Margie Fishman
