The Daily Pennsylvanian

EDITORIAL: Kudos

To Penn officials for taking the next steps to bring Robert Redford's Sundance Cinemas to campus. This should be just one step in the administration's efforts to make 40th Street into a major retail and entertainment hub. To the University and Barnes & Noble for opening the tremendous and beautiful new bookstore on time. We especially like the cafe. To the University City District for its fruit-and-vegetable-filled Clark Park Farmers Market and the announcement of the Go West! Go International! 3rd Thursdays campaign slated to begin this fall. To Eat at Joe's for finally opening its doors to the public. Just don't disappoint us by not being a 24-hour diner once school starts in September. To the University for naming Chemical Engineering Professor Eduardo Glandt as interim dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science so quickly. Although outgoing Dean Gregory Farrington will be near impossible to replace, it's good that a qualified replacement was swiftly named. To President Jimmy Carter for his inspirational and memorable Commencement speech in the spring. To Penn and the Free Library for working together to open the temporary Walnut Street West branch where the Student Employment Office used to be located.
