Student conscious after earlier drug overdose The student had lost consciousness after he overdosed on prescription drugs in his dorm, Modern Languages College House, police sources said Wednesday. Officers in the Division of Public Safety's Special Services Division rushed the student to the emergency room of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania at about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday. It was not clear exactly when the student regained consciousness. The incident, if ruled a suicide attempt, would be the third reported suicide attempt by a Penn student within a week's time. Two Penn students recently attempted suicide, one last Thursday and one on Saturday. The last reported suicide of a University student was in March 1997, when 26-year-old Wharton MBA student Elizabeth Kelsey killed herself by overdosing on medication. -- Maureen Tkacik
