Penn Transit overhaul builds on service The satellite system replaced the old telephone system, allowing transit services to better locate the vehicle closest to a pick-up request. The familiar vans also have a new look and a new name. The division formerly known as Penn Escort has been renamed Penn Shuttle, and shuttle vehicles now feature center aisles for easier access. Vice President for Business Services Steve Murray, who chaired the task force, praised the committee and transit services for their hard work. "Penn Transit Services has become a model in the industry," Murray said. "Every user will benefit from these exciting changes made possible by both the diligent work of last year's Transit Task Force and the responsiveness of our Transportation Department." -- Dina Bass
