We applaud those English professors who voted to support Camfield's tenure case, and expect the SAS Personnel Committee to do the same. His students have known for a long time that Camfield is a bright, stimulating teacher in the classroom. His two book deals have illustrated his commitment to scholarship. The English Department has supposedly gathered more materials to support Camfield's bid for tenure. We wonder what more the SAS Personnel Committee could expect. The administration has made a commitment to undergraduate education. This is the University's chance to prove it. We hope the SAS Personnel Committee will recognize its earlier mistake and award Camfield tenure the second time around.
