Jiminex, Kim see success

Angie Jiminez and Jane Kim sparked the Penn women's track team's performance at the George Mason Invitational last Saturday. Jiminez and Kim became Penn's third and fourth runners to qualify for the ECAC championships in March. Jiminez was victorious in the multi, which consists of the 55-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and 800-meter run. She finished with 3,482 points, just nine points short of the school record she set last year at the Yale Invitational. Jiminez was happy with her performance but thought she could have done even better. "I was pretty happy," she said. "I really wanted to get [the record], but I ran a bad 800-meter race. It was disappointing." Senior co-captain Nicole Maloy was especially impressed with the performance of Jiminez, especially since she is coming off a shin injury that sidelined her at the end of last season. With such a great performance so early in the season, Jiminez believes there is a good possibility she will be able to break her record later this year.
