Stab man in the leg

A male was stabbed in the leg early Saturday morning on 41st Street between Walnut and Spruce streets, University Police said last night. University Police Sergeant Ivan Kimble said a man, who is not affiliated with the University, was knifed by three males who demanded his money in Beige Block at 12:55 a.m. Saturday. Kimble added, though, that no money was taken from the man in the assault. The injured man was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Kimble said. He added that he had no information on the victim's current condition. Kimble said he had no descriptions of the three men who committed the attempted robbery and assault and added that University Police have made no arrests. In an unrelated incident, two males were shot early Friday morning on 44th Street, between Pine and Osage streets, in what University Police say was a drive-by shooting, Kimble said. Kimble said one of the shooting victims had gunshot wounds to the groin and thighs and was lying at the crime scene. The other victim, who was found at 44th and Walnut streets, had gunshot wounds to the groin and right thigh, Kimble said. Kimble said both victims were taken to HUP, where they are being treated for their gunshot wounds. University Police made no arrests in the assault, and Kimble said police have no description of the assailants or the car they were driving. Kimble added that the weapon used in the shooting was an AK47 assault rifle. Philadelphia Police sealed off the crime site for investigation following the shooting. In an unrelated incident, $800 was taken from a secured area at Beanie's Coffee House early Friday morning. Kimble said an unknown number of burglars broke into the restaurant, located on Sansom Street between 34th and 36th streets, and took the money. There were no signs of forced entry, Kimble added.
