Student missing two days found

An Engineering sophomore who had been missing since Sunday was back in his room early this morning, University police said. Manish Mehta went to University Police headquarters this morning at about 1:15 a.m. from his High Rise North apartment, University Police Sergeant Tim Trucksess said this morning. Mehta had been reported missing Sunday night at around 10:30 p.m. by one of his roommates, University Police Sergeant Ivan Kimble said last night. Trucksess said he did know why Mehta disappeared or where he had been, but added that Mehta did not appear distressed. "My concern was he was back and he was safe," Trucksess said. "I'm not going to pry into his personal life." Before his return, Kimble said Mehta had been last seen Sunday at noon by a friend. Kimble added that Mehta's family and friends had not heard from him or seen him since then. Kimble said a missing person's report had been filed on Mehta with University Police and Philadelphia Police. Mehta, originally from Bensalem, Pa., did not attend his classes on Monday or yesterday and did not report to work, Kimble said. Mehta declined to comment.
