With daily reports of shootings, stabbings and muggings around the Penn campus, such that I am afraid to walk around the corner to Wawa alone at night, I am glad that the Pennsylvania State Police have targeted the real problem: underage student drinking at fraternity parties (DP 3/30/92). I congratulate the State Police for making appropriate use of valuable tax dollars and getting underage drinkers off the street. Since, unfortunately, none of these kids are driving home, imagine the damage they could do to themselves stumbling into parked cars. They might even vomit on a person attempting to rob them out front of Billy Bob's, thus infringing on their assailant's right to illegally bear and discharge his firearm. It is the students who should have the guns. After all, they are old enough to be shipped off to the Middle East to die for this country. Just don't let them have a drink with their buddies. With all the crime surrounding the Penn campus, it's certainly best to lock up the students -- it's definitely safer. JEFF WEINSTOCK College '92
