LETTER: Good Sport

Having seen the Quakers win their fifth straight game, I was surprised when I saw that the attendance was a pathetic 2185. This is basically the size of the freshman class at this University. Of course, the attendance includes non-students and fans from Lafayette. If the team is 0-13 I can understand the low turnouts, but the team may be one of the better teams in the city of Philadelphia. I think that when the games are free for students, you can take two hours out of your day to watch a basketball team that will vie for the Ivy title. Even Ed Rendell takes time to see Penn home games. Just because the Philadelphia television media treats Penn's basketball team like the lepers of the world, it does not mean that the students have to do it too. RICHARD TRIONFO College '93
