LETTER: Good Question

I am writing this letter in reply to the column entitled "The Girl Who Cried Rape." I am just sick and tired of reading trash in The Daily Pennsylvanian every day. These two men are too stupid to have gotten into Penn to begin with. If they are so scared of raping some woman, why don't they a) stop having random sex (that is, try getting a life -- or are they too scared of commitment) or b) make sure, by asking, that they are having consensual sex. Try communicating with your partner. In fact, they might even, in this day and age, consider discussing AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases before having sex anyway. How can anyone in their right mind not? AIDS and STD's are what they should be scared of and let the legal system take care of itself -- it sucks for both parties. Just try thinking for a minute what it must be like for the woman to get up there and testify about such a devastating and emotional subject and then have her entire character destroyed, bit by bit.
