Contrary to a recent story (DP 1/20/92), Delta Tau Delta is not the only fraternity on campus which is holding spring rush. In focusing solely on Delta's events, The Daily Pennsylvanian has failed to inform the student body that the IFC holds an officially recognized fraternity spring rush on campus every year. Delta is not alone in taking advantage of spring rush, but they are the only fraternity that the DP has mentioned as conducting rush now. In fact, there are other fraternities holding rush, Phi Kappa Psi being one of them. In focusing exclusively on Delta's first year on campus and touting them as a diverse, service oriented fraternity, the DP has failed to recognize that there are many other fraternities on campus that are not in trouble with the Judicial Inquiry Officer, and also have the characteristics that the DP has exclusively associated with Delta. The DP has a responsibility to deliver an unbiased report on the state of campus affairs in its news coverage of those events, but it is not happening during this year's spring rush. In the past, the DP has made an effort to avoid signaling out individual fraternities' specific rush events, but in their recent article about Delta's spring rush, the DP has done just that. This not only shows a clear disregard for your past impartiality, but once again shows your clear bias towards Delta Tau Delta. This letter is in no way a slight against the new chapter of Delta Tau Delta on campus, for we at Phi Kappa Psi support the ideals that Delta stands for. We are only trying to clear up the misconceptions about spring rush for anyone who has not gone through it before. STEVEN CAPPIELLO Engineering '92 Chapter President Phi Kappa Psi
