The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Alliance joined the list of groups expressing their disappointment over the Diversity on the Walk Committee's failure to suggest the removal of fraternities from Locust Walk. The LGBA sent a letter expressing their disapproval to President Sheldon Hackney last week, who said he read it Friday. Hackney said he understands the viewpoints of the LGBA. "The letter is quite reasonable, and I understand their position," Hackney said. The letter, which is signed by College senior Sloan Wiesen, says it supports the work done by the committee, and hopes the report will help create "a University community which equally welcomes and supports all of its members." In addition, the letter commends the creation of the Community Service Living Learning Program in the Castle. But the LGBA criticizes the report because it fails to suggest removal of fraternities from the Walk. "We find the notion that all fraternities should be removed from Locust Walk ridiculous, it seems equally extreme, however, to assert that not even one fraternity should be moved," the letter reads. But the LGBA agreed with the United Minorities Council, which also sent a letter to Hackney last week, in saying that no one is to blame for the current situation on the Walk. The LGBA's letter also expresses support for the UMC's position.
