University students' video rental options increased last week with the opening of Megavideo, a new store on 39th and Walnut streets. Megavideo is the third all-video store to open in the area. It will compete with The Movie Ticket in Houston Hall and Video Library at 40th and Locust streets. Campus Corner also rents videos. Orest Hrabowy, a Megavideo manager, said he thinks the store's main advantage is selection. Megavideo, combined with USA Video, is a chain with several stores in the state. "If we don't have a video, we can get it from one of our other stores," Hrabowy said. The rental prices are similar at all three video stores. Hrabowy said that to increase student interest the store is offering the first two rentals free to students when they sign up for a membership. Video Library Store manager Ron Watkins said that the area "is starting to get a little crowded," but added that Video Library has had recent revenue increases. Watkins said he thinks Megavideo will probably fare better with neighborhood residents than with students.
