Penn’s Center for Architectural Conservation received a $1.3 million grant from the Getty Foundation to maintain and protect the Wupatki National Monument in Arizona.

Penn also earned the No. 8 spot in this year's overall ranking of national universities.

Despite the drop in overall rankings, Penn remains the top-ranked school in Pennsylvania. Penn ranked No. 5 among Ivy League schools this year.

Orts said that his campaign focus is on climate change, which he considers to be the most pressing issue facing the world today, and said he would use his position to enact meaningful climate reform.

The Penn Museum allegedly began a campaign earlier in the summer encouraging workers to vote against forming a union. In an emailed statement to The Daily Pennsylvanian, however, the museum wrote that it “supports its employees’ rights to make an informed decision about the voting process."

Many rising sophomores expressed excitement and said that they hope to meet people through the programming and, for some, to take their first steps on campus.

The event covered the importance of young people getting vaccinated, vaccine equity, and the pandemic's impact on the mental health of Generation Z. 

The three winning teams were awarded grants of up to $100,000 to implement projects that address eradicating or reducing racism, achieving educational equity, or reducing health disparities.
