Theft June 7 - A male student, 24, reported at 9:30 p.m. that an unsecured personal item was removed from the door of his residence at 3900 Irving Street. June 8 - A female student, 23, reported at about 12:45 p.m. that her bike, secured with a U-Lock, was removed from Meyerson Hall, located at 210 S.

Police have arrested one male for allegedly attacking a 53-year-old maintenance mechanic during the May 30 flash mob around South Street. Stephen Lyde, 21, allegedly knocked the victim off his bike, rendering him unconscious with "internal injuries and skull, rib and facial fractures," Capt.

This week, Computer World ranked Penn fourth in their national list of the 100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology. The University is also ranked first in the Mid-Atlantic region. "Our ranking is an indication of both the strong benefits that Penn provides to employees and of the vibrancy of the Penn IT community," ISC Vice President Robin Beck wrote in a statement, citing production of administrative and student products and services as one example.

University President Amy Gutmann and incoming Provost Vincent Price announced Shelley Berger as the 10th Penn Integrates Knowledge Professor. On June 8, the death of a 26-year-old Philadelphia woman was reported to be the first death related to complications from swine flu in the city, according to the Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Division of Disease Control. Philadelphia Department of Public Health spokesman Jeff Moran described the woman as already "very ill" at the time of her hospitalization before succumbing to complications of a novel H1N1 influenza last Sunday.
