Competing for the gold is not enough for U.S. Olympic rower and Penn alumnus Tom Paradiso. Thanks to his partnership with an environmental organization, Paradiso will use his platform to promote environmental awareness through the most subtle of fashion accessories - his shoelaces.


After graduating, many Penn students take some time to see the world. Usually, that travel ends after the summer, when graduate schools or careers take over. For Gilly Lane, though, his career began but the traveling didn't stop. He opted to become a professional squash player.

It's been almost two months since former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton suspended her campaign, but that doesn't mean her bills will disappear. While Clinton paid off outstanding debts to 15 colleges and universities last month, she still owes almost $150,000 for events her campaign held at schools across the nation.

A rape was reported involving two 17-year-old high school students on Penn's campus, according to Philadelphia police. The rape was reported to have occurred in a dorm on the 3700 block of Spruce Street at about 6:20 p.m. on July 23. According to Capt. John Darby of the Special Vitims Unit, the two students knew each other and have both given statements to the police.


Textbook prices and piracy grow

Number of Philadelphia DUI arrests at all-time high this year

The number of DUI arrests made in Philadelphia has increased this year as a result of increased vigilance by the city's police department. According to the Philadelphia Daily News, the Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation Division reports that DUI arrests this year have increased by more than 700 since the same time last year.
