Fall 2013 Undergraduate Assembly Elections

Nine public schools across the Philadelphia school district are proposed to close or phase out beginning at the end of this school year. The Philadelphia School Reform Commission released the fourth phase of the Facilities Master Plan last week, naming among them Drew Elementary, a University City school just north of Penn’s campus at 3724 Warren St.

Tuesday night, over 40 attendees participated in the “Screw Smart presents: The Anatomy of Pleasure: What You Didn’t Learn in Health Class,” a jumpstart to the Love Your Body Campaign hosted at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Center by the Penn Consortium of Undergraduate Women and the Penn Women’s Center.

Penn Press is about to join the digital world with plans to launch over 400 e-books in January. At launch, the books will be available as PDFs with the ability to download them to devices and print a chapter at a time.

This week is Collegiate EMS Week, which kicked off on Monday with National Collegiate CPR Day. MERT members handed out flyers on Locust Walk “to encourage people to take our CPR class and become certified,” College senior and MERT Community Outreach officer Kendra Hypolite said.

Monday night’s annual Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, presented by HBO, promoted films on Asian American life or with Asian American actors and directors. Ten of the 13 films featured by the festival — which varied in genre from thriller to romantic comedy to documentary — were shown in the Ibrahim Theater at Penn’s International House.
