With advertisements implying we, the United States’ constituents, possess the power to elect “leaders of the free world,” many were pulled in by the allure of such a glamorous opportunity. When it comes to student government on Penn’s campus, however, that same fervor is not shared by the masses, both in regard to applicant pool and voter turnout. But why?


Starting Friday afternoon, Natives at Penn — a student organization representing American Indian, Native Hawaiian and Alaska Native students on campus — hosted the All-Ivy Native Conference, one of the two times of the year when the communities at all Ivy League universities get together.

	Tukufu Zuberi, Department of Sociology chair, directed the film “African Independence,” which won the Best Documentary Film Award at the 2013 San Diego Black Film Festival.

Professor Tukufu Zuberi received the Best Documentary Film Award and the Best Director Award at the 2013 San Diego Black Film Festival for his film, “African Independence,” a feature-length documentary on the African continent’s evolution since colonization.

The men’s and women’s squads finished seventh and sixth out of eight, respectively, in the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships held at Harvard University.
