The Penn softball team, on the path to winning the Ivy League championship, suffered a hiccup in an otherwise stellar season when it blew the second game of a doubleheader against Cornell on Saturday.But The Quakers recovered nicely, winning both games Sunday to finish the weekend with a 3-1 series victory.

In the final Big 5 matchup of the season, the Quakers will look to score early to avoid the Explorers’ talented bullpen.

The Red and Blue (13-7) trounced Lafayette, 8-1, in the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic, its fourth win in five straight games against the Leopards (3-19).

At the culmination of a spectacular season in which the junior recorded just five losses, Mills emerged the best sabre fencer in American collegiate fencing.

After a dismal start to the season, the Quakers have answered with four straight wins since last Friday. They hope to continue this momentum against Holy Cross on Saturday.

Wednesday afternoon, St. Josephs’s convincingly beat Penn, 5-0. The Hawks stole a lead early on in the first two innings and held on from there.

Since the team considers the Round-Robin its most important tournament of the season, there may never be a better time for Penn to have the kind of momentum it has right now.

This past Sunday, Penn foil won the National Squad Championships, officially earning it the title of ‘best foil team in the country.

The men’s and women’s squads finished seventh and sixth out of eight, respectively, in the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships held at Harvard University.

This weekend, the teams will face their final test before the rescheduled Ivy tournament, which takes place on Mar. 2-3.
