Undergraduates looking for cheap housing near campus don't need to worry about the effect that the opening of Domus will have on rental prices, according to real estate experts and local officials. Domus, the eight-story luxury apartment complex located at 34th and Chestnut streets, will open for rent in June, bringing to the market 290 new, high-end apartments targeted toward faculty, staff and graduate students.

The Penn student who appeared on Jeopardy! College Championship in 2007. Who is Kaitlin Welborn? The College sophomore will vie for $100,000 as part of the Jeopardy! College Championship, airing from April 30 through May 11. Welborn traveled to the University of Southern California last weekend to compete against 14 other college students from universities around the country, including Harvard, Yale and Stanford universities.

When picking out classes for next semester, students now have a wider range of writing-based classes to choose from. In the Critical Writing department, the number of non-fiction and journalistic writing classes has grown to 10 for the fall semester. Students still won't be able to major in creative writing or print journalism, but at least the classes are a little more accessible than at other universities.

Princeton athletic director Gary Walters addressed an easy question at Monday's press conference, but didn't tackle a much harder one. The simple question - who will be the Tigers' next men's basketball coach? - had already been answered last Thursday, when Princeton put out an early announcement.

As usual, an all-star cast of collegiate teams will descend upon Franklin Field this weekend. With 240 colleges and universities, from Abilene Christian to York, bringing teams and individuals to participate in the relays, there are thousands of storylines to follow.

Running is the individual. It is how fast you can go, how hard you can push your body, how badly you want that time, and how much you want to beat yourself. It is about you and your personal performance. Or so the thinking goes. The women of the Quakers' 4x800-meter relay, however, beg to differ.

This season, it seems as though the men's heavyweight crew team can't help but settle for a second-place finish. The Quakers took second yet again this weekend in the Blackwell Cup against Yale and Columbia after the same result against Columbia and Princeton the previous time out.

Penn's Lubavitch House, along with Drexel University's Hillel program, will sponsor a memorial for Virginia Tech professor Liviu Librescu on April 26. Librescu, 76, was killed last Monday, April 16, during a shooting rampage on Virginia Tech's campus that left 33 dead and 24 wounded.

Cheers and jeers for the semester

Not again. For the second straight year, the Penn men's tennis team went into its final weekend needing two victories to secure an outright Ivy League title. And for the second straight year, the Quakers came up short. After defeating Cornell 6-1 at home Friday to put the team one win away from grabbing its first outright title in 36 years, Penn lost at Columbia 4-2, meaning the Quakers will have to share the crown for the second straight year, this time with the Lions.

After being elected last week as the next Undergraduate Assembly chairman, College junior Jason Karsh sat down with The Daily Pennsylvanian to discuss life at the UA, goals for the year and girls with the new big man on campus. Daily Pennsylvanian: How did you get your start on the UA? Jason Karsh: I went on the Pennacle pre-orientation program and . was convinced by some juniors and seniors to . give the UA a shot freshman year.

The ice water felt good. Coaches Mike Dowd and Sara Schiffman and senior co-captain Ashley Lostritto got the celebratory bath on Saturday as the women's tennis team beat Columbia 7-0 to cap a perfect Ivy League season. As the music blared and his players celebrated, a wet coach Dowd described the mood: "It's a tremendous feeling," he said.
