Rolling Stone admits issues with UVA sexual assault story

In response to increased criticism of the Rolling Stone article entitled "A Rape on Campus," written by Sabrina Rubin Erdely, the publication admitted to possible discrepancies within the original article and its sourcing.

The story profiled a female student at the University of Virginia and her account of a premeditated gang rape at a fraternity party on campus, as well as the subsequent lack of response by the university.

Erdely, who is a Penn alum, chose not to contact the alleged assailants described in the story.

"Because of the sensitive nature of Jackie's story, we decided to honor her request not to contact the man she claimed orchestrated the attack on her nor any of the men she claimed participated in the attack for fear of retaliation against her," the Rolling Stone managing editor stated.
