Variety of options offered for summer storage

Students can find storage services in the surrounding area for a wide range of prices

Whether you are spending the summer in India or just have a lot of junk you want to keep for next year, you can find many options for storage in Philadelphia beyond your friend’s off-campus basement.

Prices vary for each storage option. Self-storage rental lockers cost between about $30 and $250 per month depending on a locker’s size and level of security.

Services which offer delivery and pick-up are priced based on the dimensions of the storage boxes chosen, ranging from $25 for a single box to $300 and up for a multi-box package.

If you are moving your belongings to or from campus, U-Haul rental trucks are available for rent in University City, and Ryder van locations are in Central, South and North Philadelphia.

While keeping your belongings in a storage facility is convenient, most companies do not hold themselves liable for damages acquired while in the services’ care. Customers can purchase insurance from most businesses for an extra fee.

Penn’s Office of Off-Campus Services recommends checking whether or not the facility is in a well-lit and highly-trafficked area, is in a safe neighborhood, is completely fenced and is protected by a computerized access system.

Many services which pick up or drop off your packages, such as BoxMyDorm, will also ship your belongings to another city.
