Last Friday, the Latino Coalition elected its new board members. Wharton sophomores Angel Contrera and Dionicio Herrera will serve as chairman and vice-chairman for 2010-2011, respectively.
"I am very excited to work with the rest of the upcoming Latino Coalition board," wrote Contrera in an e-mail. He added that the Latino Coalition will continue to inform students about the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act. The DREAM Act, if passed, would allow undocumented student immigrants to attend college, enlist in the military and become permanent U.S. residents.
The Latino Coalition — an umbrella organization for 25 Latino student organizations, works with other student groups and University administration to promote Latino students at Penn.
