Super Mash Bros will headline SPEC's Fall Festival

The music of Super Mash Bros is "scientifically proven to make you shake your ass," according to the group's website, which is why they will be playing on College Green this fall.

The mash-up artist Super Mash Bros will headline the Social Planning and Events Committee's first annual Fall Festival on Oct. 10.

Super Mash Bros is a musical duo made up of Nick Fenmore and Dick Fink. Their songs typically combine '90's hits with today's chart-topping rap, and their two albums are available for free download at lazerwolf.com. Their mash-ups feature samples from artists as varied as Britney Spears, Eminem, MGMT and Blink-182.

SPEC President and College senior Dasha Barannik said the group wanted to book an artist popular with college students and similar to Girltalk. Indeed, the duo describes itself as "Girltalk's hot cousin."

"I think there's going to be a really positive response," Barannik said. 'The whole thing lends itself well to just chilling with your friends and hanging out."

Super Mash Bros was one of SPEC's top choices for musical entertainment. Barannik said the group wanted a DJ for the event to create a relaxed festival and encourage dance parties on the Green.

SPEC is also hosting a Battle of the Bands during the afternoon. Any band interested in competing must submit a music sample to the Office of Student Life or online at sonicbids.com/PennBattle by Sept. 25 for consideration. Chosen bands will be notified by Oct. 2.

"We hope that the student body is excited for what will be the first of many school-wide dance parties taking place on College Green every autumn," Fall Festival On-Stage Entertainment Chairman and College senior Nick Pangallo said in a statement.

PennCards will be required for entry onto the Green during the event.
