EVANSTON, Ill.,-- It was cold, it was wet, it was windy and it was a second half that Penn would rather forget.

Despite leading 6-5 at halftime, the women's lacrosse team fell to No. 1 Northwestern 11-9. It was the second straight time that the No. 3 Quakers (13-1) fell to the Wildcats. The last time was in last year's NCAA final.

Several impressive streaks were on the line. Penn had a won a program record 13 straight games to open up the season. Northwestern (17-0) meanwhile was on a 52-game home winning streak and a 23-game overall winning streak.

But in the end it was the longer ones that held ground. The Wildcats were led by senior Hannah Nielsen's four goals and three assists. Penn's top scorer was Emma Spiro who had a hat trick.
