News Brief: UA adds recycling e-mail for complaints

Undergraduate Assembly chairman and College senior Jason Karsh led the shortest Undergraduate Assembly meeting of the semester last Sunday night in Houston Hall.

n Facilities Committee co-chairwoman and College senior Sarah Abroms announced the launch of pennrecycles@gmail.com.

Facilities will use complaints sent to this address to identify problem areas in order to make recycling easier and more efficient. The committee will also conduct off-campus door-to-door bin distribution on Nov. 4 and 11.

n In collaboration with the Student Committee on Undergraduate Education, the UA passed a proposal to launch a Penn Google calendar.

Students can launch Google Calendar, select student groups they are involved with and view a comprehensive calendar that displays all important times and dates for those particular groups.

Class information like midterm dates may soon be added to this calendar if faculty agree to add their courses to Google Calendar.

n A proposal to tie the Penn Alert System to Penn InTouch passed unanimously in an effort to get more students on board with the alert system.

Before students register for fall 2008 classes on Penn InTouch, a pop-up screen will appear that prompts them either to enter information for the alert system or to opt out of the alert system.

Vice chairman and College and Wharton junior Wilson Tong said the prompt will act like a registration hold, urging students to enter their information.
